The current method that Padini is using is a manual operating process, where customers order are pick and pack manually. The warehouse workers pick the items of the customer from an assigned location, they then sort it physically by customer’s order and then pack it by customer order. By doing so, many human errors have occurred, warehouse workers often pick the wrong item and pack it to the wrong customer.
What we trying to achieve?
We as Geekplay are here to help solve the human error problem by implanting the Warehouse Put-To-Light-System. Through this system, we aim to simplify the process of picking and packing the orders, having a simple process can help to eliminate picking errors which is another aim of implementing the system.
Target Market
Our warehouse put-to-light system are created for companies that employs e-commerce services and process their customers order in a warehouse. The put-to-light system can be implemented to sort each customers order into a slot in every batch of order for companies that have no mature warehouse management system to deploy. This system is not expensive or even tedious to realize, it is simple, convenient and efficient to integrate to a warehouse management system, so it is very suitable for small to medium scale companies. Furthermore, the system is very flexible, for example, the users or companies that wish to employ this system can change the number of slots they need based on their e-commerce sales. Padini is one of these companies that aims to implement this type of warehouse management system.
Design Methodology
The design methodology that we used in this project is scrum model because the scrum model suggests that projects progress via a series of sprints. In keeping with an agile methodology, sprints are timeboxed to no more than a month long, most commonly two weeks.
